To paraphrase John Green, What I love about being a nerd is being allowed to be unironically enthusiastic about stuff. I've been coding since the 6th grade (those graphing calculators weren't going to program themselves), and I still manage to be pretty enthusiastic about it. These day instead of TI-83 BASIC I get to use sweet tools - lightweight service buses like NServiceBus and MassTransit and low-friction NoSQL tools like RavenDB.
